Ash Catchers FAQ

Do ash catchers make a difference?

Absolutely, an ash catcher will help your bong and water stay cleaner for much longer.

What is the best ash catcher?

There is no such thing as the best ash catcher, only some are more suitable to certain situations than others. The main thing to consider does it fit your bong? Do you want it to have percolators to help cool the smoke down further? There are many different ash catchers and we are sure you will find one to suit your application.

What size ash catcher do I need?

Firstly you will need to work out if you require a 14mm or 18mm sized ash catcher, you can view our "Glass Grinding Sizes Guide"hereto help you figure out the size that you require.
You will also need to work out what angle ash catcher that you require, typically they come in 45° and 90° versions. 45° versions are the most common and generally fit most bongs, while the 90° version is typically used on fixed downstems also known as stemless bongs as there is no removable stem.

How do you clean an ash catcher?

Ash catchers can be cleaned the same way as glass bongs, you can use a specific bong cleaner or you can use isopropyl alcohol and salt. Regular water changes and maintenance make the job much easier.

Are there any downsides to using an ash catcher?

The simple answer is yes, it is not much of a problem to the average user, although an ash catcher can add extra draw resistance to your experience and this may affect the function of some of the more sensitive percolators. In general though this is not a problem and if you are worried about the extra drag we suggest getting a dry ash catcher as they add no extra resistance.

Collection: Ash Catchers

Ash Catchers, also known as pre-coolers are an add on accessory that help trap ash and tar before entering your bong and in turn this means your bong will stay cleaner for longer. There will still be cleaning involved although it is much quicker and easier to regularly rinse out an ash catcher than it is a bong. The other added benefit to an ash catcher is they also help diffuse the smoke and this will create a cooler and smoother end result.

Ash catchers come in many shapes and styles, there are 14mm and 18mm ground joint verities along with different glass joint angles such as the typical 45° and 90° versions. There are many different styles of percolated ash catchers and they are also available as a dry ash catcher.
